Labor Day: Putin and Trump’s working man blues

First published in Blasting News:

America has lost its way, it has become a land of the oppressed where billionaires own our government and nothing is owed to the working poor.

War is possible because we wage it against people we don’t know or understand. Our children are sent to kill people in lands where we do not speak the language or understand the culture.  We are hermetically sealed in our own brutal capitalist culture of dog-eat-dog.  If you are not privileged you have no value and the privileged shall not contribute to the greater good of the country.  America has lost its way, it is run by the offspring of the elite who advance the interests of the oligarchs.

The war against working poor

The billionaire owned media control the debate and the message that is drilled into the American psyche twenty-four seven.  We are told low wages are a reality and jobs are not coming back to America.  It is in that atmosphere, that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have broken out of the iron clad shell that has been constructed around our people.  This week during Trump’s visit with Mexico’s President Nieto he said “workers in both of our countries need a pay raise, very desperately. In the United States, it’s been 18 years, 18 years wages are going down. Improving pay standards and working conditions will create better results for all and all workers in particular.”

Americanism not globalism

What a departure from what we’re told by our wealthy politicians who have told Americans to “suck it up” low wages are the new reality.  Later, Donald Trump speaking before the American Legion said “the men and women of the American Legion represent the best of America. Strength, courage, selfless devotion. Your organization, and its members, have done so much to defend our country, our flag, and to advance the cause of Americanism – not Globalism.

Military pawns for neocon wars

Those words are in beautiful contrast to the outrage that has taken over our wonderful country starting with the presidency of Harry Truman. Congress usurped power from the President and unleashed the nuclear bomb on Japan in an unprecedented act of horror that led to a new age American aggression against people of the world.  Secretary of State Henry Kissinger described the new attitude toward working Americans best when he said “military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy.”

Ugly Americanism was ushered in with the Nixon presidency and escalated to new levels after the American government was overthrown December 12, 2000 with the installation of the world’s most ignorant leader, George W. Bush.  The age of ignorance, bigotry and vicious disregard for the working men and women became the new world order.  It was advanced by both of the political parties in America, for now the military industrial complex controlled our government, our schools and our airwaves.

Trump and Putin promote enlightenment

And while Trump was pushing for a new American idealism and worldly understanding, President Vladimir Putin was meeting with Eton school boys from the UK.  Putin has been demonized along with Trump by the oligarchs who rely on an ignorant populous to promote war.

Putin has repeatedly shown his mastery of the game of politics.  In agreeing to meet with the students from Eton, Putin was investing in future relations between Russia and the world. Nineteen of the UK’s prime ministers were educated at Eton so meeting with the next generation can only promote peace in the world.  While America’s pampered, war mongering congress languishes on a much undeserved vacation, Putin and Trump sing the working man’s blues.
